The SAP Fiori front-end server (FES) hosts SAP Fiori apps and the launchpad, providing the web UX layer over SAP back ends. Release 6.0 is a specific FES version; Fiori app bundles themselves are versioned against their host S/4HANA release.
It became generally available on 20 September 2019. SAP mainstream maintenance runs until 31 December 2027 — after which SAP no longer ships corrections, legal changes or new support package stacks for this version. For customers who opt in, a paid extended-maintenance phase then carries support to 31 December 2030, after which only customer-specific maintenance remains available. That leaves a workable but finite window; given that SAP transformations routinely run multi-year, scoping and budgeting should be underway rather than deferred.
The forward path is the per-release SAP Fiori shipped with each S/4HANA release, consumed via the embedded or hub-deployed front-end server. Customers keep Fiori current by upgrading FES and the app bundles alongside the back end.
UX, Basis and front-end teams should align FES maintenance (Business Suite 7-aligned for 6.0) with their S/4HANA and Fiori app strategy, ensuring the front-end layer stays supported as the back end evolves.
