SAP mainstream maintenance runs until 31 July 2026 — the point after which SAP stops delivering new patches, legal and regulatory updates, and support packages for the release. Customers on the 2205 release typically move to Commerce Cloud to escape version-by-version maintenance cut-offs and stay on an evergreen codebase that receives updates without disruptive major upgrades — an attractive proposition for storefronts that must stay current with security and platform changes.
Digital-commerce and platform engineering teams on Commerce 2205 should plan their Commerce Cloud transition before the mainstream date, since no extended phase is offered. Given how visible storefront stability and peak-season readiness are to the business, an unhurried, well-tested migration is well worth scheduling early rather than against the deadline.
