SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) 7.0 is the Business Suite 7 procurement application, handling operational procurement, sourcing, contract management and supplier collaboration for organisations that wanted procurement integrated directly with their SAP ERP rather than run as a separate system.
It became generally available on 5 May 2009. SAP mainstream maintenance runs until 31 December 2027 — the point after which SAP stops delivering new patches, legal and regulatory updates, and support packages for the release. For customers who opt in, a paid extended-maintenance phase then carries support to 31 December 2030, after which only customer-specific maintenance remains available. That leaves a workable but finite window; given that SAP transformations routinely run multi-year, scoping and budgeting should be underway rather than deferred.
SAP positions SAP S/4HANA sourcing and procurement (the on-stack successor) and the SAP Ariba cloud portfolio as the forward options. Most SRM 7.0 customers move procurement either into S/4HANA, where it becomes part of the digital core, or out to Ariba for cloud sourcing and supplier collaboration — in both cases redesigning processes rather than upgrading SRM, which has no further release.
Procurement and IT teams still on SRM 7.0 should decide their target — embedded S/4HANA procurement versus Ariba — and begin the move well before the cut-off. The latest enhancement packages carry the 2027/2030 dates while the base release ends earlier, so confirming the installed enhancement level is the necessary starting point for any plan.
