SAP Ariba

Overview

SAP Ariba is SAP's cloud source-to-pay procurement suite — covering sourcing, contracts, guided buying, invoicing and supplier management — which joined SAP through the 2012 Ariba acquisition. Two naming points matter for anyone searching. First, the procurement applications are still called SAP Ariba, and SAP is currently rebuilding them as "Next-Gen Ariba" on SAP Business Technology Platform, with quarterly releases beginning February 2026. Second, the connected business-to-business trading network has been renamed: SAP Business Network (formerly the Ariba Network) is the current name for the supplier-collaboration layer, so the two terms refer to the same network under its old and new branding.

As a continuously delivered cloud service it follows a rolling-release model: SAP updates it on a regular cadence and publishes no single end-of-maintenance date, so there is no countdown clock for the line as a whole. Individual data-center releases may carry their own short windows, but customers are kept current automatically rather than facing a version cliff.

As a strategic cloud suite, SAP Ariba is itself a destination rather than a product with an end-of-life — notably the successor for SAP SRM 7.0 procurement. The change underway is technological rather than a name change: the Next-Gen rebuild moves Ariba onto SAP BTP for cleaner ERP integration and embedded Joule AI, while SAP Business Network is the go-forward name customers will see for supplier onboarding and transactions.

Procurement, sourcing and supplier-management teams are the audience. Anyone who still refers to the "Ariba Network" should recognise it as today's SAP Business Network when searching SAP documentation, and procurement leaders should track the Next-Gen Ariba rollout, since the move to BTP changes integration patterns and supplier onboarding architecture.
