SAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM) 7.0 is the on-premise CRM application within SAP Business Suite 7, covering sales, service, marketing and the Interaction Center, with tight, native integration to SAP ERP. It was most often chosen by organisations that wanted a single, SAP-native customer-process layer sitting directly alongside their ECC backbone, and many built substantial service and contact-center operations on it.
It became generally available on 5 May 2009. SAP mainstream maintenance runs until 31 December 2027 — the date from which SAP ceases routine corrections, security notes and legal/regulatory updates for the release. For customers who opt in, a paid extended-maintenance phase then carries support to 31 December 2030, after which only customer-specific maintenance remains available. That leaves a workable but finite window; given that SAP transformations routinely run multi-year, scoping and budgeting should be underway rather than deferred.
SAP's go-forward customer offerings are SAP S/4HANA for customer management (the on-stack successor that brings core CRM functions closer to the ERP) and the SAP Customer Experience cloud portfolio — Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud — for organisations moving to SaaS. Migration is a re-platforming and process-redesign exercise rather than a technical upgrade, so it rewards early scoping and a clear decision between the on-stack and cloud routes.
CRM 7.0 customers, particularly those running service or Interaction Center scenarios, should note an important nuance: the headline 2027/2030 dates apply to the latest enhancement packages, while the base release without enhancement packages reaches its cut-off earlier. CX leads, CRM owners and integration teams should confirm exactly which enhancement level they run before assuming they have the longer runway.
