Continuously delivered cloud service — SAP publishes no single end-of-maintenance date, so there is no countdown for the line as a whole.
SAP BusinessObjects BI 2025 is the current release of SAP's on-premise business-intelligence platform and the first of the new biennial BI 20xx line, following BI 4.3. It deliberately streamlines the suite around its most-adopted tools — Web Intelligence (now with dashboarding capabilities and new SAPUI5 report elements), Crystal Reports 2025, Analysis for Office and the semantic layer on UNX universes — while retiring legacy components such as UNV universes and the Universe Design Tool. SAP has committed the BusinessObjects line to mainstream maintenance until at least the end of 2031, with BI 2027 and BI 2029 already announced as follow-on releases.
It became generally available on 12 March 2025. Under SAP's revised on-premise maintenance model each BI 20xx release receives roughly three years of mainstream maintenance delivered through regular patches (service packs are discontinued), followed by customer-specific maintenance whose first twelve months include security fixes; the exact end-of-maintenance date for BI 2025 should be confirmed against SAP's Analytics BI maintenance strategy and the PAM. No separate paid extended-maintenance phase is part of this model.
The forward path within the line is the next biennial release (BI 2027, planned for around Q4 2026 to Q1 2027), while SAP Analytics Cloud remains the strategic SaaS direction and a managed BusinessObjects private-cloud edition exists for customers leaving self-hosted infrastructure.
BI teams currently on BI 4.3 — whose mainstream maintenance ends 31 December 2026 — are the core audience: BI 2025 is the release that keeps an on-premise BusinessObjects estate supported, provided deprecated components and UNV-to-UNX conversion are addressed as part of the upgrade.
