SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) 10.1 is the NetWeaver-based release of SAP's planning and consolidation application, used for budgeting, forecasting and financial/legal consolidation. It aligns its maintenance with the Business Suite 7 / NetWeaver platform.
It became generally available on 10 June 2014. SAP mainstream maintenance runs until 31 December 2027 — the point after which SAP stops delivering new patches, legal and regulatory updates, and support packages for the release. For customers who opt in, a paid extended-maintenance phase then carries support to 31 December 2030, after which only customer-specific maintenance remains available. That leaves a workable but finite window; given that SAP transformations routinely run multi-year, scoping and budgeting should be underway rather than deferred.
Successors include BPC optimised for SAP S/4HANA, embedded planning in S/4HANA, and SAP Analytics Cloud planning. Migration is a process and platform decision rather than a simple BPC upgrade.
Finance and FP&A system owners on BPC 10.1 (NetWeaver) should plan their target — S/4HANA-embedded, SAC planning, or Datasphere-based — before the cut-off, noting that the Microsoft-platform variant of 10.1 carries different dates.
