SAP HANA 1.0 is the first generation of SAP's in-memory database and platform, the technology that enabled real-time analytics and later became the mandatory foundation for SAP S/4HANA and BW/4HANA.
It first shipped around 2011. SAP mainstream maintenance ended 30 June 2021 — after which SAP no longer ships corrections, legal changes or new support package stacks for this version. Crucially, SAP offers no extended-maintenance phase for this release, so the mainstream date is a hard cut-off rather than the start of a paid extension — there is no buying of extra time at the version level. Systems still on this release are now running without standard SAP support, which is a security, compliance and audit exposure that should be closed quickly.
The successor is SAP HANA 2.0, and strategically SAP HANA Cloud. All HANA 1.0 systems were expected to move to 2.0, a defined database upgrade rather than a re-platforming.
Any team still operating a HANA 1.0 system is well past maintenance and should have completed the move to 2.0; this entry mainly serves as a lineage and audit reference.
